What about his purchase of 20 million of GM stock?

  • Why Investors Are Skeptical About GM's Long-Term Prospects [View article]
Actually, GM owes the Government $0.00.

In fact, they were 'given' the right to write off about $45 billion against their future tax obligation.

They have commenced negotiations with the UAW to buy out their pension obligations, similar to what Ford has done.

  • Why Investors Are Skeptical About GM's Long-Term Prospects [View article]
"As of Dec. 31, GM had
    • U.S. hourly retirees and dependents: 400,000
    • U.S. salaried retirees and dependents: 120,000
    • U.S. pension obligation: $108.6 billion
    • U.S. pension underfunding: $13.3 billion
    Source: General Motors

As of March 31, GM had $32.1 billion of cash and marketable securities, according to a regulatory filing. That's up from $29.6 billion a year earlier and up from $23.5 billion two years earlier. "

Above information is from Automotive News . . .

The stock is down because it has been politicized . . . . . except for Europe, they are making money everywhere, and their new cars are near best in each respective class, particularly when compared to its American brethren.

  • Why Investors Are Selling GM Like Crazy [View article]
The opinion is poooop, because it is based upon pooooop.

But I can't wait until some of the GM bashers will point out that Warren Buffet bought $250 million of GM stock just help out his buddy - 0bama.

Than again, I was always wondering why 0bama's real pals - the unions (in addition to the UAW), didn't by the GM stock.

  • GM: Turbocharged By Subprime Under The Hood [View article]
A few months ago I was looking at a Chevy Traverse and I was offered 1.99% financing, and if my credit was stellar, I was told that I could get a 0% loan.

Now, those are the kinds of loans that people with good credit would partake of. Loans at over 2.5%, not so much.

It is my understanding that those subsidized loans are no longer being offered, which would explain the drop in the high-credit loans, while at the same time the increased operating profit margin, as those low interest loan costs have been reduced if not entirely eliminated.

We need ainalists as this author, so as to depress the stock every-once in a while.

I made more money selling puts of NLY than am I making in dividends holding a fairly sizable chunk of the stock.

    Thanks for the opportunities.

    Exactly!

The more interesting number that people should take a note of is the profit margin rise from 5's to 7's . . . . that is 40% increase, if you want to play the percentage game.

    Another pile of poooooooop.

Since interest on consumer loans is not tax deductible, most sales are cash. GM took in over 38 billion just the last garter, a tiny fraction of which was financed by GM. . . . .

  • RIM: The 'Is' And 'Is Not' Of QNX [View article]
Having tested QNX - on Playbook 1 and now with the second generation, and comparing its performance on virtually identical hardware - Atrix 2, as well as comparing it with ipad 2, it can run around in circles around those two . . . . .

Its REAL multitasking capabilities are amazing, while the swipe commands are much more robust, making the use of the multitasking a breeze.

Anyway, if this is any indication of BB10, than RIMM will have a technological winner(s) - the biggest question is their marketing.

The Playbook should have been called WorkBook, for one.

  • Bio-Pharma Drug Approval Watch List: Final Results Plus One To Watch [View article]
The 'analysis' of the CBRX is seriously lacking - not unlike much of the 'investment community' that has been selling the company short . . .

    1. Crinone 8% as well as the 4% is marketed throughout the world as 'progesterone supplementation', and in much of the world it is also being prescribed to prevent premature births . . . .

2.The FDA merely did not approve the efficacy for the prevention of premature births . . . . nevertheless, it has become the standard of care even in the US, albeit the insurance companies may not recognize the treatment for such . . . .

    3. Watson Pharmaceutical, which owns almost 20% of the company has taken over the FDA approval process . . . .

    4. CBRX has hired an adviser to 'sell itself'? - That is somewhat puzzling as Watson is its biggest stockholder . . . .?

  • An Update On 5 Stocks That Could Collapse In 2012 [View article]
    Probably is.
To compare the PlayBook with isomething is not exactly on the level - Apple is valued at almost 100x RIMM.

Playbook was however a major marketing misstep.

It should not have been called Playbook, but rather BusinessBook. The absence of built in email and calendaring was greatly misunderstood as the device was marketed as a standalone tablet, while its real strong suit was its connection with a BB phone.

That said, the operating system QNX is top notch and gives Android run for its money, not to mention the fact that it can run Android programs very well.

If Playbook 2 is any indication of BB 10 phones, than RIMM should do very well, even against the iSomething.

  • RIM: Strong Gains Hinged On BB10 Success [View article]
Based upon my personal experience, if the Playbook 2 OS is any indication of the BB10, then RIMM will have a technological winner!

The question is whether they can parley this into a commercial success. My bet is that they will . . . .
